Emergency Plumbing in Texas

Why Texas Homeowners Call Bryan Plumbing for Emergency Plumbing

Plumbing emergencies rarely happen at a convenient moment. A pipe splits in the attic during a freeze, a toilet overflows while guests are over, or sewage comes up through a shower drain late at night. In those moments you need two things: clear advice on how to limit the damage right now, and a licensed plumber who can fix the cause. That is what our emergency service is built around.

Bryan Plumbing answers the phone 24/7 for emergencies. When you call, we ask what is happening, walk you through immediate steps such as closing the main shut-off valve, and arrange for a plumber to come out. Our trucks carry common parts and equipment, so in many cases the plumber can stop the problem and complete the repair on the first visit. Most jobs are finished the same day.

Texas homes face their own set of emergencies. Hard freezes, like the February 2021 winter storm, burst pipes in homes statewide. Expansive clay soils swell and shrink with wet and dry seasons and can stress plumbing under slab foundations until a line cracks. Long summers push water heaters in hot garages and attics to their limits. We serve homeowners in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, El Paso and cities across the state.

Warning signs

When to Call a Plumber

Not every plumbing problem has to be fixed tonight. These situations do, because waiting can lead to serious water damage, health risks or safety hazards.

A burst or frozen pipe

Water spraying from a split pipe can soak walls, ceilings and floors quickly. A frozen pipe can burst as it thaws, so treat it as urgent.

A major leak you cannot stop

If water keeps flowing after you close the fixture valve, or you cannot find or turn the main shut-off, you need help right away.

Sewage backing up

Sewage rising through tubs, showers or floor drains is a health hazard and usually means a blockage or break in the main line.

A toilet that keeps overflowing

One overflow can be a simple clog. Repeated overflows, or several fixtures backing up together, point to a bigger drain problem.

A leaking water heater

Water pouring from the tank or its connections can flood a garage, closet or attic. A failed tank will not seal itself.

No water at all, or a gas smell

Losing water to the whole house needs fast diagnosis. If you smell gas, leave the home first, then call the gas utility and 911 from outside.

Early action saves money. With an active leak, time matters. Shutting off the water and getting a plumber on the problem quickly limits how far water spreads into drywall, insulation and flooring, which keeps repair bills and insurance claims smaller. Acting at the first sign of trouble is almost always less costly than waiting.

What we do

Our Emergency Plumbing Services

Burst and frozen pipe repair

We locate the break, cut out the damaged section and replace it, then check nearby lines for other freeze damage.

Emergency leak repair

From failed supply lines to cracked fittings and leaking valves, we stop the water and repair the source of the leak.

Sewer backup clearing

We clear blocked main lines and branch drains so wastewater flows away again, then explain what caused the backup.

Toilet overflow and clog repair

We clear stubborn toilet clogs, fix fill valves that will not stop running and repair leaking seals at the base.

Water heater leak response

We shut the heater down safely, find the leak and repair the connection or replace a tank that has failed.

No-water and shut-off valve repair

We trace why the water stopped, from a failed main valve to a broken line, and replace shut-off valves that will not close.

How it works

The Bryan Plumbing Emergency Process

  1. You call, we answer

Call Bryan Plumbing at (607) 318-0383 any time, day or night. We ask what is happening, help you shut off the water or take other safety steps, and arrange for a plumber to come out.

  2. Heads-up and arrival

We send a call or text heads-up before your plumber arrives, so you know when to expect them. Our trucks are stocked with common parts and equipment, so the plumber can usually get to work right away.

  3. Assess, then an upfront price

The plumber puts on shoe covers, lays down drop cloths and finds the cause. You get a written quote with an upfront price, and the repair begins only after you approve it.

  4. Fix, test and clean up

We repair the cause with quality lead-free parts, test the system and clean the work area. Most jobs are finished the same day, and the work is covered by our workmanship warranty on parts and labor.

Do it right

Why Hire a Professional for Emergency Plumbing?

In an emergency it is tempting to patch the problem and hope it holds. Tape, clamps and chemical drain cleaners can buy a little time, but they often hide the real cause or make it worse. A frozen pipe may have split in more than one place, and a sewer backup may come from a blockage far down the main line that a store-bought snake cannot reach.

Bryan Plumbing sends licensed and insured plumbers who find and fix the source, not just the symptom. We explain what happened, what we recommend and what it will cost before work begins. If water has already damaged walls or floors, we tell you what we see and suggest contacting your insurer or a water damage cleanup company.

Prevention

Emergency Plumbing Prevention Tips

Many plumbing emergencies can be prevented, or at least made smaller, with a little preparation. These steps matter in every Texas home.

Know your main shut-off

Find the main water shut-off valve now, before you need it. Make sure everyone in the home knows where it is and that it actually turns.

Insulate exposed pipes

Wrap pipes in attics, garages, crawl spaces and exterior walls with foam insulation. It is one of the most important freeze prep steps in Texas.

Drip faucets during hard freezes

When a hard freeze is forecast, let faucets on outside walls drip slowly and open sink cabinet doors so warm air reaches the pipes.

Protect outdoor faucets

Disconnect garden hoses and fit insulated covers on outdoor faucets before freezing weather. Shut off and drain irrigation lines if you can.

Watch what goes down drains

Keep grease, wipes and food scraps out of drains and toilets. They cause many of the backups that turn into late-night emergencies.

Check hoses and supply lines

Look for rust, drips or bulging hoses at the water heater, toilets and washing machine, and replace worn supply lines before they burst.

Pricing

What Affects the Cost of Emergency Plumbing?

Emergency repairs vary widely, so Bryan Plumbing does not guess over the phone. The plumber assesses the problem on site and gives you a written quote with an upfront price, including any cost tied to the timing of the visit, and you approve it before work starts.

Type of emergency

Clearing a toilet clog is a very different job from replacing a burst pipe inside a wall or clearing a main sewer line.

Location of the problem

Pipes inside walls, ceilings, attics or under a slab take more time to reach than exposed lines under a sink.

Extent of the damage

A single split fitting is quicker to fix than several freeze breaks along a long run of pipe.

Parts and equipment needed

Some repairs use common stocked parts, while others need a new water heater, a main valve or drain clearing equipment.

Timing of the visit

Calls at night, on weekends or on holidays may be priced differently. We explain this upfront before you approve anything.

Emergency Plumbing FAQs

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Close the main water shut-off valve, or the valve on the fixture that is leaking. If water is near outlets, cords or appliances, turn off power to that area at the breaker panel, but only if you can reach it while staying dry. Move valuables out of the way. If you smell gas, leave the home and call the gas utility and 911 from outside.

How do I know if it is a true emergency?

If something is causing damage right now or creates a health or safety risk, treat it as an emergency: a burst pipe, a leak you cannot stop, sewage backing up, a leaking water heater or no water in the home. A slow drain or a dripping faucet can usually wait for a regular visit. If you are unsure, call Bryan Plumbing and we will help you decide.

What should I do if a pipe freezes in Texas?

Keep the faucet on that line open so water can move as the ice melts. Warm the pipe gently with a hair dryer, never an open flame, and keep space heaters well away from anything flammable. If the pipe has already split, close the main shut-off right away. During hard freezes like the February 2021 storm, call early because demand rises quickly.

I smell gas. Should I call a plumber first?

No. Leave the home immediately with everyone, including pets. Do not flip light switches, use your phone inside or start a car in an attached garage. Once you are outside and away from the house, call the gas utility and 911. After the utility says it is safe, call us if a plumbing repair is needed.

Will my insurance cover the water damage?

That depends on your policy and the cause. Take photos of the damage and the source before cleanup, and contact your insurer early. For soaked drywall, flooring or belongings, a water damage cleanup company can dry things out. Bryan Plumbing repairs the plumbing, and your written quote documents what failed and what we fixed.

Is my sewer backup a main line problem?

If only one fixture is backed up, the clog is probably in that drain. If several fixtures back up at once, especially low ones like tubs, showers and floor drains, the main sewer line is likely blocked. Stop using water in the home and call Bryan Plumbing, because running more water will push more sewage inside.
